Facial hair to support cancer
Each November, Movember participants, known as “Mos Bros,” groom, trim and wax (along the lines of American women living post- 1970′s) their facial hair in order to seek sponsorship for men’s health issues. Fighting prostate cancer is amongst Movember’s top priorities; a cause that Sex With Emily whole-heartedly supports.

The San Francisco Social held this past Saturday gathered more than 500 young adults at the Fairmont Hotel to raise over $75,000 for Larkin Street Youth Services, an organization helping San Francisco’s youth move beyond street life for over 28 years. Saturday’s crowd was young, hip, tech-savvy, and passionate about giving.

During the California Youth Connections (CYC) Culinary Inspirations event, held this October in San Francisco, California foster youth helped local chefs prepare and serve food to raise money to empower kids aging out of foster care. I was surprised that many of the culinary treats that chefs and local eateries donated spoke to sex and relationships— non kid-like material.

The Sinclair Institute, a sex education company promoting “better relationships and better sex,” carries sex toys and their own line of erotic films. I chose to watch “The Voyeur” from the Romance Collection, a female erotica series and learned some life lessons in addition to sex tips. Linda, a tall, thin, redhead with a European accent is the aunt of Brenda, who is blonde and beautiful, but uptight. Brenda seeks Linda’s advice as her marriage begins to stale. Very few oncologists or women discuss the the impact of cancer on sex even though this issue is prevalent. The Journal of Sexual Medicine reports that 7 in 10 breast cancer survivors experience sexual problems in the two years after diagnosis. Treatment for most types of cancer involve sexual side effects. Women should not give up the joy of sex in order to battle disease.
